Open mouth, insert foot.

Not mine.

I really wish people would THINK about what they say before they say it.

I've been tossing around the idea of getting another dog. I've looked at pictures of dogs that are up for adoption here and there, but I keep talking myself out of it. What I don't get are the people who say, "you don't need another dog", or things along those lines. Who the hell are you to tell me what I need? If I am not depending on you, you have NO say, and should do nothing but support me in something I might want.

A couple of weeks ago I was planning a last minute road trip to the HC. Someone said, "Oh, it must be nice to just be able to pick up and go like that, without a worry in the world." Anyone that knows me, KNOWS how desperately I want children/a child, and that I would trade that freedom in HEARTBEAT.

Please, people, think about what you say before you say it.

I respect the idea of you getting another dog. There are many animals that are in need of a good home and I know you would definately provide one.

I'm always amazed at how hurtful comments that are made in an offhand fashion (and that are sometimes even well-intended) can be. It makes me sad, mostly because people don't always realize the bigger implications of what they're saying.

If you and Bear want a new friend, I say go for it! I know that will be a VERY loved doggie.

Hell there are times when I wished I could be your dog...

I totally understand on the dog comments I get those a lot too, I keep looking at a buddy for Sadie. Whatever YOU decide I'm sure will be right for you. *hug*

And on the "must be nice" just remember they are jealous. They want what you have. Focus on that part. That's what I try to do, the part that shows they want what YOU have.

That's sad! "They" would say the same thing to me about kids. Do "they" really NEED another pair of shoes or new vehicle?

my husband and i take care of 3 little girls that have come from a very difficult background. i have people tell me often that they would not do what we do because they are in a "better" place in their life or they would never want kids in the way of how good they have it. it irks me to death. my next door neighbor even told me he would not want someone elses kids in his house to tear things up becuase he worked too hard to get what he has. i just looked at him and said, have you ever sat at a dinner table with a kid so hungry they shovel their food? he has no clue. some people are just crude.

I decided to visit the bloggers who had commented on Jennsylvania and found you. I figure anyone who loves Jen is someone I will love!

You're so right, it's nobody's business what you "need" or don't. It amazes me how people can feel they have a right to tell others who to live their lives.

Oh, and just thought I'd share, I had a Cutest Blog on the Block background that disappeared too, and I just went back to their site and re-installed it, and it's fine now. Don't know what the problem is/was.
