The results.

I have IBS. Yes, that is the best case scenario if it had to be something, but I really would rather it be NOTHING. The endo is enough to deal with.
For now we are going to treat it with a high fiber diet and a fiber supplement (Fiber Sure-check it out if you don't get enough fiber in your diet. It rocks!)
It seems that the worst flair up I've had was because of stress. It was right around the time that I was trying to get the house stuff figured out, and then all of the other daily stuff on top of that sent my colon into overdrive.
See, we don't talk about stuff like this so we don't really know what's normal. I'll tell it like it is. Going to the bathroom once every five or six days IS NOT normal. That's my problem. So I don't go and don't go and don't go, then my colon goes into panic mode and starts spasming like crazy. That's where the intense pain was coming from. So then it's spasming like crazy and I go and I go and I go and it's just been a vicious cycle. I've been taking my supplement twice a day, eating Fiber One cereal (Caramel Delight-it's tasty!), and I've increased my fruit and vegetable intake. I'm feeling better, just a twinge of pain here and there.
Oh, and my second pap came back normal. So YAY for that!

Glad to hear it all went relatively well. I've been lurking in the background on this for the week. My dad had a colonoscopy two weeks ago to remove some polyps, but had complications. He's fine now, but after an emergency flight 120 miles away and a huge loss of blood. Didn't think you needed to read about that...

Eeeek! Thanks for not commenting because I would have gone to your page to check things out and I probably would have freaked out a little!

I'm glad that it ended up being something that can be medically managed and that you're feeling better. I like the new layout!

Girl I know first hand how painful IBS can be...I thought I was literally dying from the inside before my doctor diagnosed me. I'm sure you have done research on IBS by now, and while fiber helps a LOT, I also have certain foods that make mine flair up. Mainly good ole red meat....so not many steaks for me. Oh, and iceberg lettuce for some reason. Did he give you an anti spasmatic for it? And yes, stress has a lot to do with also. I have been under more stress than normal lately and have had those nasty little "drop you to your knees" kinda shooting pains...blah

but as has been said, sure beats what the alternative diagnosis could have been!

I had a very similar issue. Just before and after we went overseas (a very stressful time), I couldn't be in the CAR because the bathroom wasn't close enough. I thought my life was ending. First, my doctor gave me a VERY small prescription of Klonopin (sp?), which was a mild (but additive) relaxant. Second, I moved to Peru. There I had horrible stomach issues, but those were more about parasites and giardia. Our water was not potable, so we used a grapefruit seed infused cleaner for vegetables. I swear within six months I had no more IBS related issues. I talked to a friend of Vicky, Todd's mom, that Christmas, and she was taking a grapefruit seed supplement to help her, and it was working. So based on her story and mine, I think the grapefruit seed cured us. To this day I have no relapses of stomach problems - except after wings!
